Given that it’s Bond’s 50th anniversary and Skyfall opens next week, odds are you’re going to see a lot of Bond-related stuff pop up over the coming days — but nothing as comprehensive as this. I recently read this book and thought it was a good read, but after checking out the Amazon review section I am a little disheartened to find out that “The Definitive Interpretation of Miyamoto Musashi’s Classic Book of Strategy” is not actually an interpretation, but rather a re-imagining of another translation, which is never clearly defined. The author, Stephen F. Kaufman, claims to be the “father of American karate” and a 10th Dan at his Dojo no Hebi (which doesn’t mean “Snake Dojo,” or “Dojo of the Snake,” but rather “Dojo Snake” or better yet “Snake of the Dojo” – that’s what happens when you don’t speak the language and try to use it anyway…), which does not seem to exist anymore. I will have to try another interpretation and see how the information differs.

Now, 10 years after the original publication, SUMO is back in a more economical edition, but one with the same DNA as its unique progenitor.

The original SUMO, edited by June Newton, featured over 350 pictures, most published for the first time, covering every aspect of Newton’s outstanding career: from the stunning fashion images that influenced generations of younger photographers, to his powerful, erotic nudes and celebrity portraits.
